The Founder

Shri TS Kumarasamy

Every successful enterprise begins with a dream. So did Christy Friedgram Industry. And the dreamer was a small town lad who later came to be known as Shri T S Kumarasamy.

In 1989, Shri Kumarasamy had a small capital but a big dream of becoming a first generation entrepreneur who would bring prosperity into his hometown of Tiruchengode. Around the same time the Government of India invited tenders for the newly launched ICDS scheme. This was the opportunity that Shri Kumarasamy was looking for since it combined his passion for philanthropy with his bent for technology. Timely funding from a nationalized bank helped him bag the contract and he has never since looked back. The small seed capital that he started off with has today built a Group with a turnover of over INR500 Crores in 2009.

Shri Kumarasamy was born in Tiruchengode in a family of farmers in Namakkal District of Tamilnadu. Even as a child he was interested in ‘looking beyond the obvious’, a trait that made him pursue Post Graduation in Commerce and attend courses on Food Technology at CFTRI, Mysore, and eventually drove him to establish a series of companies with disparate interests. However, all his endeavors are tied together by the common thread of philanthropy. His entrepreneurial streak has generated thousands of jobs in Tiruchengode. No wonder, he won the Pepsico India Foods Best Business Partner Award 2010.

Shri Kumarasamy is a hands-on leader who leads from the front. He is seldom found behind any glass cubicle and instead likes to spend most of his time interacting with employees and supervising the manufacturing processes. Genuinely interested in the CFI team, he interviews all shortlisted candidates to see if they fit the organizational culture. He even attends all exit interviews to understand why exactly an employee is leaving the organization. A dreamer and a doer, Shri Kumarasamy is a proponent of inclusive growth.
